15 Random Things About Mark
OK, here's a few things about me that you may or may not care to know. Enjoy!
1. I have somewhat of an unhealthy obsession with the Denver Nuggets.
2. I have done voice work on several radio commercials for the Shane Company... your friend in the diamond business.
3. My primary vehicle is a 2003 Honda Metropolitan yellow scooter. I top out at about 35mph if I'm going downhill with the wind to my back.
4. I work for a local hospital as a materials coordinator in the emergency room.
5. I think that raw cookie dough is the best... I don't see why anybody even bothers baking the stuff.
6. I always have music in my head. I especially love blues, 90's rock, and modern American folk.
7. If I could, I would eat sushi every day of the week.
8. I am an avid tennis and racquetball player. It doesn't mean I'm really good or anything, but I truly am avid.
9. As a child, I accidentally dented a relative's vintage Camaro while driving my Grandparent's go-cart. I didn't realize that you had to turn the wheel back to make the car go straight again.
10. When living with a friend after graduating high school, I often stayed up until 2:00am playing pinochle (a card game) with my friend's grandma.
11. I spent two years in South Carolina as a full-time missionary.
12. I enjoy the smell of airports.
13. I'm a self proclaimed Harry Potter nerd.
14. Between Tiffany and myself, it took us 7 months to beat Super Mario Galaxy on our Wii.
15. As a kid, I told my elementary school class that I wanted to be a taxi cab driver. It hasn't happened... yet.

15 Random Things About Tiffany
I thought I would share a list of random things about myself that I bet you didn't know.
1. I attended the California Culinary Academy in San Francisco for Baking and Pastry Arts, which makes me a pastry chef! I have worked in a few different bakeries and restaurants making pastries and occasion cakes. My favorite things to make are plated desserts and wedding cakes. Ironically, I have been diagnosed with Celiac, which means I can't have gluten because I can't digest it. So now I make everything gluten free!
2. I want to be a Mythbuster!
3. I cut my sister's hair off when I was little.
4. I LOVE watching birds...I guess that makes me a bird watcher :)
5. I can't eat hot dogs. I think they are so nasty!
6. I wanted to be a brain surgeon when I was a little girl. I used to watch shows on PBS of different surgeries that I'm not sure I could handle watching now.
7. I use the exclamation point (!) and the smiley face :) way too much when blogging or talking on Facebook.
8. I go out of my way to step on particularly crunchy looking leaves during autumn.
9. I LOOOOVE the I Love Lucy Show! Love it!!!
10. I would rather eat raw cookie dough than eat a baked cookie. Although, I do like baked cookies, too :)
11. I used to love dipping my Wendy's french fries into my Frosties. Unfortunately, I can't have the fries anymore since there is the chance of having gluten in them. I sure miss it, though! I can still have the Frosties (woohoo!)
12. I used to have lots of goldfish. My most recent fish was named Fillmore.
13. I have dyed my hair so many colors, I can't remember them all. This includes pink, blue, green, orange, purple, red and the more natural blondes and browns. Right now, my hair is brownish.
14. I am growing a Meyer Lemon tree in my house. I really hope that it fruits next year...I think it will be about 4 years old, so it should be at maturity soon :) Lemons are my all time favorite fruit, and Meyer Lemons are the best because they are a cross between a regular lemon and a Mandarin Orange. mmmmmm!
15. My favorite candies are Smarties, Jelly Bellies and pretty much any fruity candy. I do have an appreciation for quality chocolate, as well :) I mostly like to snack on nuts these days...they are so good!

Winter Wonderland!
Although it is still October, Colorado has had quite a lot of snow in the past couple of days! I decided to make a quick video to share with you what things look like outside right now. The news is saying that the snow should stop sometime tonight, and by this weekend, Denver will be back in the 60's! So, I suppose that's Colorado for ya! Blizzard one day, and warm days after that. I expect that the snow should be pretty well melted within a day or two :)

Mark and Tiff's Playlist
We have created a playlist so that you can get to know us through the music we like! We tend to like a large range of music, and we have very different styles. Tiff's music is a bit more eclectic, with ska, punk, alternative, reggae, classic rock and indie, where Mark leans toward the opposing heavier and softer styles. He enjoys a lot of classic rock, as well as 90's grunge, heavier rock and American folk music. We seem to get along musically, and we tolerate each other's music fairly well! Only on rare occasions do we really disagree about an artist.
Mark's favorites are Amos Lee, Ray LaMontaigne, Snow Patrol, Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Flogging Molly, and The Squirrel Nut Zippers.
Tiff's favorites are The Cure, The Dandy Warhols, The Smiths, The Ramones, The Aquabats, Toots and The Maytals, and Van Morrison.
Our playlist should automatically start playing, and if you would like to rewind, skip or pause a song, you can find the player on the right hand side bar.

A Few Pics From Utah, And A Visit From Our Friends!
We were able to visit Utah a few weeks back, and thought we would show some pictures from that visit. Tiff had a really fun time shopping with her sister Stephanie, at the mall. We also spent some time grilling food and playing games with Stephanie and her husband, Gene. We also had a really fun time playing with our nephew Ethan.
We also were able to have a really fun visit with our friends from Oklahoma. They were on their way from Alaska back to OK, and had a layover here in Denver. We were really excited to see them, so we went to the airport with some lunch and had a great time!
Please ignore the big soda cup in the front of the picture! Gene is always lugging around a soda with him!

Finished Cabinets
We finished painting our cabinets last week, and now we are getting ready to paint the walls. We haven’t settled on a color yet, and are trying out a few different samples to see what we like. Here are a couple of pictures of the kitchen now, with the cabinets finished. It turned out so well, we are really excited!

Kitchen Remodel
We have decided to work on our kitchen a bit, to make it nicer. We haven’t finished yet, but it should be done very soon!
Tiff did some research online to find what exactly we wanted to do, and we decided to paint the bottom cupboards a dark red, and the upper cupboards a cream color. The walls will be a light green. It probably sounds weird, but it is going to end up really cute!
Here are a few pictures of our progress. The brown is what we started with, and the rest are how things are moving along! We will be sure to post the final pictures when we are finished as well! We hope to be finished by Saturday evening, but we’ll see! I suppose you never really can tell how long something will take.

Road Trip!
This past Labor Day weekend, we took a quick road trip to visit family in Utah. Tiffany’s sister and her husband gave birth to a little girl a couple weeks ago, and we had to move quick to make our claim as favorite aunt and uncle. I know we may be a bit biased, but she is the cutest darn little newborn! Here is a picture of us with our niece and nephew. They’re so much fun!
When driving through Wyoming on the way to Utah, we always drive by a marked ”Point of Interest”, in which we have never really thought was interesting enough to stop. However, on our trip back we were feeling like we needed a stretch and thought we might give it a shot. What makes it interesting? It’s a pine tree coming out of a big rock. Check it out!
Here’s Tiffany and Mark with the “Tree Rock”.

Summer Campout!
We were able to take a weekend to go camping last weekend, and had such a good time! We had perfect weather, and found a beautiful, secluded spot with a creek running behind it!
We had originally planned to go up Guanilla Pass, just outside of Georgetown, but when we got there, the pass was closed due to a rock slide. We were grateful that we didn’t go earlier, otherwise we may have been stuck! While Mark took our dog, Queso for a little walk, I (Tiffany) ran into a gas station and spoke with an employee who gave directions to a different campground. What a perfect location she sent us to! It was very close by Georgetown, so we didn’t have to drive far, and it was quiet and secluded! Nobody else came to that area the whole time! It was a lot of fun.
We were able to build a big fire, and have tin foil dinners and s’mores. Once the fire burned down, we watched the stars, and just relaxed. It was beautiful!
In the morning, we enjoyed a slow breakfast of oranges and cookies (breakfast of champions!), packed up and drove back down to the Georgetown lake. It was nice to take a slow stroll around it with Queso jogging along next to us. There were plenty of people fishing, although we never saw anyone catch anything.
Afterwards, we headed back home, and enjoyed the rest of our weekend! What a perfect summer activity, something we will remember for a long time!

What We Have Been Up To
May was Tiffany’s birthday! We don’t usually do a whole lot for our birthdays, aside from going out to eat, but this year was different! Mark had received a $50 gift card from his job to Lucky Strike bowling alley in downtown Denver for Christmas, so we finally used it. We went out with a couple of friends and had a great time! We went out to eat at Ling & Louie’s on the 16th Street Mall, which was super tasty, then headed over to the bowling alley. We went on Tuesday, which is $2 night, so we were able to buy 2 games plus shoes for everyone, sodas, and random appetizers for $2 each! It was great! We were doing our best to use up the whole card, but we couldn’t do it! We finished up the night with like $12 left or something! We had a great time!
Tiff had to work on her birthday, and when she got home, Mark had surprised her with a homemade birthday cake! She was so excited! The best part was that Mark knows that Tiff loves lemon, so he added some lemon zest and extract to the batter, which was really creative and delicious. Tiff was surprised that he had thought to do that!
The Saturday following, Tiff’s family took us out for an awesome picnic and hike at Golden Gate State Park, which was a ton of fun. Tiffany’s step-mom’s birthday is the day before her’s, so we always celebrate together. We both love picnics and hiking, so we both really enjoyed it The picnic was nice, just crackers and chips with a spinach artichoke dip, fresh fruit and juice. We also had a variety of cheeses and some fruit leather. It was quite chilly that day, we were all shivering through the picnic, but once we got to hiking, and under the cover of the forest, it warmed up a lot. We didn’t need jackets at all! It turned out to be the perfect day.
Aside form the birthday stuff, we were able to do the Bolder Boulder again this year, which was a lot of fun. Mark beat his time from last year, and was just 23 seconds short of making his 1 hour goal! He did great, although he is really bummed about missing his goal. Tiff walked most of it, since she’s not a fan of jogging. She made it in 1:45. Pretty good! It rained like crazy once the whole Memorial Day ceremony was over (perfect timing!), so we bolted to the car at the end.
June is Mark’s birthday, so we will see what kind of hijinks we can get ourselves into!

Our Letter To You
Dear Friends,
We are grateful for you and your decision to consider placing your child for adoption. We understand that this is a difficult time for you, and we hope that with whatever decision you make, you are able to find comfort and peace.
A little bit about us…
Mark and Tiffany met at a church function in 2003 and became quick friends. After several months of pestering, Mark finally convinced Tiffany to go on a date with him. The tables then turned, and after a year of dating, Tiffany finally convinced Mark to marry her! We have now been married for 4 years and continue to have a great love for each other, and a relationship as best friends.
Mark is an easy-going guy who likes spending time with family and friends. He enjoys sports, but particularly likes playing tennis and swimming. During the NBA season, he loves going to basketball games (Go Nuggets!). He has a great love for music and enjoys playing the guitar and singing. For the past 3 years, Mark has worked with the 14 and 15 year old boys at our church, teaching them on Sundays and volunteers as a Scout leader during the week. He recently was asked to work with the young nursery age children, and is having a blast with them at church every Sunday! He works at a hospital in the emergency room managing the supplies for the Dr’s and nursing staff.
Tiffany is a fun-loving gal with a great attitude towards life. She likes spending her time cooking and baking. She enjoys inventing new recipes and keeping Mark well fed and happy! Tiffany also enjoys making crafts and decorating our home to match the seasons. She has worked with the children in our church for the past 4 years, and has taught them to know that they are each important and loved. Throughout these experiences, she has learned to value each child, and to work with their individual needs. She was recently asked to spend her Sundays working with the 16 and 17 year old girls, teaching them how to be strong women, and how to make smart life decisions. She works part-time for Mark’s dad as a secretary for his business in his home, which creates an excellent opportunity to bring our future children with her to play with Grandma and Grandpa. Tiffany also runs her own business making wedding cakes and candies.
Our new child would become a part of our large and loving extended family who are all excited to meet the new little one. We have lots of family and friends nearby with children to play with. Our dog, Queso, has lots of energy and is looking forward to having a new little friend in the home too.
We are eager to grow our family, and cannot wait to experience the joys of parenthood! We truly love children and we are excited to have them in our home. Thank you for taking the time to learn about us, and again, we hope that you can find peace in your heart with whatever decision you make.
With love,
Mark and Tiffany
